Alleluia!

We had a great week here in Hugoton (minus the incessant heat, but we dealt with it)!

Today we found out about transfers and both of us are staying in Hugoton. That's a good thing since I've only been here for two weeks now.

This week we were invited to two barbecues! All hail the memorial weekend!

One of those barbecues was at Corn-dog's and Mary-Jane's house. Corn-dog's mom, Janet, was there too (she lives there as well). We gave her a Book of Mormon a couple weeks ago (like my first day here) when we had a lesson with their family at a member's home. We had marked 3 Nephi 11 for all of them to read and gave them all their own copy and sent them on their merry way. We had a cool experience with Corn-dog and Mary Jane, but we never followed up on the reading with Janet. Well at the barbecue this week she told us that she had read the Book of Mormon and she knew it was true and the word of God. She also wanted us to give her more to read. The next day, Sunday, she came to church and was 10 minutes early (haha, like that hardly ever happens (especially with investigators)). We weren't even at the church yet because we were still rounding people up. The Branch President called us and was like, "One of your investigators is here." It was a good chance for a lot of the Branch to fellowship her.

At church both Elder Beddes and I gave talks in sacrament meeting. We had to base our talks off of General Conference talks from the last sessions of General Conference, so I based mine off of "He Will Put You on His Shoulder and Carry You Home" by President Uchtdorf. Janet said that she 'felt the spirit inside her' at the sacrament meeting. She stayed for all three hours and it was great. We taught gospel principles class and invited a few active members to come in so it wouldn't be just missionaries and Janet. It was really good, we talked about who God is.

Janet is on date to be baptized the 11th of June and already set her own baptismal time. She is such a fun lady. She is a little curly-headed, Hispanic lady (she speaks perfect English) who is in her late 60's. She is always happy and smiling and every time we ask her a yes or no question she either says, "Yes, sir," or "No, sir."

It was a very nice week indeed :)

I love you all and thanks for all you do!
