ABOUT ELDER WALDRON

"The gospel brings joy, and that is why they send out missionaries to spread joy. When I was preparing to serve my mission, I wondered what would happen if I didn't serve. I instantly thought of the missionaries that served in Wales and England about 150 years ago that taught my ancestors. I was lucky enough to be born in the church because of these missionaries. I knew then that I had to serve a mission so I could give others the same opportunity."

ABOUT  THE MISSIONARIES

Jesus Christ and His disciples preached the gospel to everyone. Elder David A. Bednar said, "Devoted disciples of Jesus Christ always have been and always will be valiant missionaries. A missionary is a follwer of Christ who testifies of Him as the Redeemer and proclaims the truths of His gospel" (Come and See, Oct. 2014)

More than 88,000 full-time missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are teaching others about Jesus Christ in all parts of the world today. Most missionaries are about 20 years old, but many older couples choose to serve as well.

Missionaries voluntarily leave their families and friends and postpone school, work and dating for 18 months to 2 years and serve the Lord at their own expense.
