Larned, Lyons and In Between

Dear Family and Friends, We had a great week this week. As you can see from the subject we spent a few days outside of Great Bend this week and found so many prepared individuals. Larned: On Tuesday we went to Larned and had dinner with a Less Active, Kylie, that had brought two nonmembers to church last week. We were able to talk with both of them. Pete and Josh (her friends) were both very nice and open individuals. I think that they are very receptive to the gospel right now. On Sunday we had a lesson in the Perez (Kylie's parents) home with Josh. We shared a short video on the restoration. Sister Perez was an awesome member missionary. She testified so much of the restoration and her own experience of finding the truth. Member testimonies truly are amazing and the greatest missionary tool. As well on Sunday we visited Kearra (the recent convert who brought all the friends to youth activity). She walked around with us in Larned and took us to show us where her friends who came to the activity lived. She's so missionary minded! Lyons: In Lyons we saw a lot of different people. The coolest experience we had was with the wife of a less active. We went to go see Josh, the less active, but he was busy with a business deal he was working on. His wife, Logan, was outside with him as well. We talked to Logan a lot about the gospel and she is very open and receptive. She has never talked to missionaries before and had a lot of questions about the church. Ellinwood:

I almost forgot about Ellinwood. It's a little town (about 1,000 people) in between Lyons and Great Bend. We are working with this lady named Cindy out there. Cindy talked to missionaries when she lived in Great Bend. She recently moved to Ellinwood and moved into an apartment where a former investigator used to live. That is how we found her. She is a very receptive, humble, and spiritual person. She very much enjoyed the message of the restoration that we taught to her and her husband. Great Bend: In Great Bend this week we had the opportunity to share a message about the Book of Mormon and how to know truth with the Gonzalez family. They are a family that has had contact with the church before. The kids seem very open and interested so we hope to work with them. It was a really cool experience I really felt the gift of tongues as I talked during the message. I felt like Heavenly Father blessed me so that I could say what he wanted me to say, I was just a vessel. The family was very impressed by our Spanish and I know that that helped the message enter into their hearts. In Great Bend as well is another Hispanic investigator named Iris. We have talked to her once before and then we went by this week. She was busy, but asked if we had something we could leave her with to read so that we could talk about it next time. That was pretty cool! With all that's gone on this week and thinking about the message that we shared with the Gonzalez family, it truly has impressed upon me the power of a prayer. The power of asking God a question to know truth is a comfort. If it is a truth that we really desire to know with real intent, he will reveal it to us. Joseph Smith is the perfect model of this for us.
