Transfers

Well hello family and friends. I hope that you all had a good week! Today we found out about transfers. I am staying in Great Bend (which was predictable) and Elder Anderson is leaving (which was also predictable). My new companion is Elder Hosenfeld. He's been out as long as Elder Anderson (about 6 months) and also like Elder Anderson was called to speak English but was changed to Spanish a few weeks before entering the MTC. He's been in Junction City his entire mission so far. That was my second area so we will be able to talk about a few things. He actually took my place when I left so I'm sure we have some investigators in common. We had to take the car into the shop this week so our week consisted of walking across the entire city of Great Bend in the cold a couple of times. Then Elder Anderson catching a nasty cold. Fortunately I was saved from the illness. One time while we were walking across Great Bend. We ran into Anthony, one of our former investigators. We talked to him and he was wondering why we hadn't stopped by for awhile so that was cool. We'll try him again and hopefully he'll progress. A cool thought for this week. I heard this quote from a talk in sacrament meeting. "Comparison is the end of joy" -Mark Twain (It was something like that I have the exact quote in my notebook which I left at home) Sometimes we see the people all around us that find a lot of 'success' and we feel like we're doing as much as them but not seeing the same results. This quote is true. We can be happy with our work when we know we've put forth our best effort. But when we compare our results to others it doesn't help us at all. It doesn't help us to be happier and it doesn't help us to put forth more effort for the right reasons. In 2 Nephi 9:18 it says "But, behold, the righteous, the saints of the Holy One of Israel, they who have believed in the Holy One of Israel, they who have endured the crosses of the world, and despised the shame of it, they shall inherit the kingdom of God, which was prepared for them from the foundation of the world, and their joy shall be full forever." It doesn't say that those who make so much money in their life or those who baptize a certain amount of people on their missions or those who were the most popular people in their communities will inherit the Kingdom of God. It says those who believed in Jesus Christ and endure to the end will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Samuel 16:7 says "...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." As men and women we can't compare ourselves because we too often look at success from outward signs. While God, who knows our hearts, and truly looks into each one of them knows what is our true success.
