'Tis a gift

Hello everybody. I know you might be thinking that I'm writing this letter on a brand new iPad, but 'tis not so. We received iPad training this past week. That's it. We will be receiving our iPads June 9th at a Zone Conference (hey look that's right in between Aubrie's and Sophie's birthday). For our iPad training Elder Don R. Clark of the 70 came. I like him a lot. He came when I was in the Mexico MTC and his talk there helped me a lot. I really like what he said on Wednesdaytoo. (Plus he's from Idaho and loves Idaho so that's pretty great as well (and he was a Spanish speaking missionary as well)). He talked about how a tsunami destroys almost everything and how a tsunami is coming now with technology. How pornography and just wasting time on technology will destroy all that we hold dear if we don't do something. He gave some pretty horrifying statistics and said they would be worse when we got home from our missions. The church's vision is so big with this technology. They really want to teach us how to use it for the rest of our lives not just for the mission. The most powerful filter is our own self-control and testimony. It was a really enlightening and edifying experience (and I got to see all of my favorite missionary friends again).

Before more, birthday shout-outs to Aubrie on the 8th and Sophie on the 10th. Ya'll the best even though you are getting older. You won't be expecting what's coming, maybe you will, but I did my best.

I've been thinking about this lyric I heard the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing (it's from I think the 2013 Pioneer Day Concert with Lindsey Sterling)

"'Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free, 'tis a gift to come down where we ought to be"

I don't know, I just really like that. Next time you wish you had more think of it as a gift to be simple.

It truly is a gift to be free. We talked this week with a couple from Venezuela (They are also the parents of a less active, they tried to kiss my cheeks a couple weeks ago). They just went on and on about how bad Venezuela is and how much they love the US and much better it is. They even talked about Abraham Lincoln and how they loved his story. (they also told us we were going to the first heaven (Celestial Kingdom) and that we were saints and angels, but that's another story)

a gift to come down where we ought to be. We were supposed to come down to these families where we were born. Look at your family tree sometime (especially on familysearch.org where you can look at the family tree with pictures) and think about all the people that came together in the perfect order to make you. This week we had a miracle with family history. We started a less active on her family history and we could only stay and hour. So we started her and I showed her around a little bit and then we had to go. And then when we were leaving she said, "See you at church." We hadn't even mentioned anything about church! She also continued to text us the whole day telling us, "oh I have 9 research hints now." "I found my mother's side I'm going to be up all night." "I even found pictures." It was really cool and miraculous.

Anyway for an end I want to share this quote a good friend sent me. It's another Helen Keller quote and it's well, a good one:

"I long to accomplish some great and noble task, But, it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks as if they were great and noble.

Thank you for everything. Love ya'll

Bye

Elder Waldron
