Caribbean Amphibian!

Hello, hello, hello!

Before everything else I want to give my condolences to the Sparrows. Sister JoAnn Sparrow was a very good person, a very nice lady. I remember years ago comparing toy Troll collections. I can remember eating Marv's smoked creations and JoAnn's 'picnic cake' on the back porch. They are both elect people in my opinion.

There are a lot of people from the Caribbean in Junction City! It's crazy! I can't speak that language. Their Spanish has a thick accent that's hard for me to understand, a lot. We've had some fun experiences with them this week.

First we talked with Edie. She is from Puerto Rico and speaks perfect English and Spanish, she lived in the New York City for awhile and probably has the most attitude in a person I have met before. We've met her before when we've done service at the food bank here in Junction, and she is a less active member of the church. One day we were driving the car and saw her outside walking her dogs. We drove around the corner, parked, jumped out and ran so that we would meet her at the corner of the block but so that it would look like we had been walking down that street. Yeah... we were a little creepy but we really wanted to talk to her so we could visit her at her house sometime. Also she likes my Muppet shirt (I wore it to service one day). She's a really good lady always giving service to others. Like she sounds like a relief society president.

There is a recent convert in the branch, Ilda, who is from Puerto Rico (actually she is Dominican, but she was raised in Puerto Rico). She's really funny and she always makes this dish I love called pastelón, it is like ground beef, and topped with banana, with egg to hold it all together. It sounds weird but I like it. Anyway we took her to meet an investigator who is Dominican, who of course she already knew, and it was hilarious. They laughed so much. about everything. But it was good, just super funny (and loud). We talked about Lehi's dream and partaking of the fruit and had Ilda bear testimony of how she has partaken of the fruit and how it has changed her life.

Lastly I thought we would quickly mention an investigator we have named Nova, who is from Puerto Rico. She has had a hard life, and to sum up her life now she is living with her partner and they have adopted a child together and she works two jobs to support them. In similar circumstances we wouldn't have gone back but one day she pulled up to us (she saw us walking on the sidewalk) and told us to come and see her. So we went back and we've testified to her that she is a daughter of God who loves her. That is such a new idea to so many people and so many people need to hear it. I know we are divine children of a Heavenly Father who loves us. That is true.

Love you all!

Be Good, Live Well, Love a lot
